Wellington WOWS

Wellington WOWS

We’re super lucky to be based in the beautiful (yet windy) Wellington and we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of our favourite things to do in and around the city!

EATS

Wellington is one of the best cities for coffee and delicious treats, here’s a list of our favourite spots to visit in the evenings, for brunch or just a quick snack.

Cafes

Fidel’s

Don’t be fooled by the exterior and interior being an old school barber shop, Fidel’s is one of the best cafes in Wellington. Filled with delicious cabinet food, coffee, brunch and even weeknight dinner deals!! Get there early on the weekends, to grab a seat outside in the sun.

Grocer’s Shed

If you’re having a stroll around Island Bay, we recommend grabbing a coffee and donut from Grocer’s Shed.

The other half to Maranui Street Café, this gem is at the end of our street and is an office regular for a mid-afternoon coffee and snack!

If you’re a fan of seafood this is a must – plus, it has amazing seating and  an epic grass area for the kids!

Restaurants

Grab a seat at the window and take in the hustle and bustle of Cuba street. Grab a wine or beer pairing and enjoy the best pasta you will ever eat. Gluten-free and dairy-free options too!!

Old Quarter

We may have to call this as one of the best eats in all of Wellington. The Asian fusion flavours are out of this world. Make sure you book this one in as tables fill fast.

We love the atmosphere here, the open space and view into the kitchen gives it an epic New York style feel and the food is delicious – pasta, burgers you name it it’s good!

OUTDOORS

Wellington is filled by beautiful scenery and escaping into the outdoors is what we all love to do on the weekends! Here are our favourites spots to explore:

Island Bay

We love taking a weekend stroll around Island Bay. It’s close enough to the city that it is an easy drive, yet it feels as if you’re on a wee beach holiday.

Zealandia

This is a must, nestled in Karori is New Zealand’s first fenced ecosanctuary. Filled with native birds, trees, and wildlife. It’s a great weekend activity for the family and the kids. There is a cost, but it’s 100% worth it.

Massey Memorial

Out at Point Halswell on the Miramar Peninsula, pull over to park once you spot the sign and take a short 5-minute walk up to this beautiful memorial.

Makara Wind Turbines

It wouldn’t be windy Wellington without a visit to the West Wind Turbines. These turbines are giants and are a must for any new visitors to Wellington. Just make sure to bring warm clothes and hold onto your hats!
